Covid-19 Announcement (21st September 2020 update)

BRIDGEFIELD SWIMMING CLUB RETURN TO POOL - LATEST NEWS

As some members will be aware the club has been operating length sessions for a group of 30 swimmers split into 3 bubbles since pools reopened in August. We have up to now been limited to a maximum of 30 swimmers as a result of guidelines stipulated by Swim England and the pool operator, Volair.

The guidelines have now been modified and we are now able to accommodate a maximum of 48 swimmers in a single session. As a result we have in the last week sent out invitations to a further group of swimmers offering them a return to the pool. All additional invited swimmers are from the intermediate and advanced groups.

During the course of the next couple of weeks we will be inviting the length swimmers who have not yet received an invite back to club sessions on a Friday evening only basis. When we do this it will be necessary to stand down some of the swimmers who are currently invited to Friday, Wednesday and Sunday sessions from the Friday session, however they will still be able to attend on a Wednesday and Sunday.

We remain in discussions with Volair regarding the reintroduction of the Learn to Swim groups (width swimmers) however we are currently not able to provide a date when these sessions will reopen.

Rest assured we as a club are doing everything we can to welcome back as many swimmers as we are able to safely and within specified guidelines laid down by Swim England and Volair.

We will of course make you aware of further developments when they occur.

Best wishes from all at Bridgefield Swimming Club

Interested in becoming a swimming teacher and helping our club?

As the club continues to grow with more sessions being provided over the last year, we need to grow our teaching group.  We are requesting if any parents/guardians are interested in helping on poolside, please make yourself known to one of our teachers or the desk.  We will train you and ensure you go through all the checks and assurances to qualify you to teach/coach.  You can help with just one session or more, it is up to you.  We just need a reasonable amount of consistency to enable us to plan our session delivery.  The quality of th progression of our swimmers relies on the quality of our teachers, therefore you can directly help our club progress if you volunteer.

Thank you, Paul Armstrong (Club Chair and Chief Coach).

Club Introduction

Bridgefield Swimming Club was founded in 1981 and took its name from the school it originally developed from, based at the Bridgefield Sports Centre in Halewood. The club moved to its new premises following closure of the Bridgefield centre and has been located at Halewood Leisure Centre for the past 15 years.

The club provides a learn to swim, swim development and competitive programme, with many of our swimmers going on to achieve their full potential at regional, county and in some instances national level. We also have an extremely experienced and successful water polo section that operate at many other locations. For further information on this see our links section.

The club prides itself on providing top quality teaching and coaching, to deliver the ASA learn to swim and swim development programme. We assess our swimmers on a rolling 10 week basis to ensure progression is monitored and appropriate development identified. Working with the City of Liverpool squad to provide a suitable progressive development path, we have produced many of the region’s best swimmers.

The club operates on its principal to deliver teaching and coaching in a friendly approachable manner, whilst all of the requirements of safeguarding and safe operating principles are at the core of our delivery. This is demonstrated by the award of the SwimMark accreditation, further information on our accreditation can be found here.

Bridgefield Swimming Club deliver sessions on Fridays, Sundays and Wednesdays, further information can be found here.
